Global Mail Group Job Scam Mail Assistant

Posted on 07:00 by Unknown
So here's an interesting job scam sent in from one of our readers. It's offering an independent contractor position in the U.S. for a Mail Assistant where you supposedly use your own mailing address to receive client envelopes that you forward to another client.

That's enough to be suspicious of the job offer in the first place. But for some reason this particular company prides itself on having mail forwarded to you that will be forwarded back to somewhere else. What reason do they give for wanting to do this? Why...of course it's to offer you a job and supposedly because it's cheaper for this scam to send you the mail and have you re-mail it back out to clients so they save postage and you make money. And you get a lucrative $20.00 for each one.

I was corresponding with our reader and I really am not sure what information is gained by sending out these letters to others. I assume there is something to be had by this scam but I would almost seriously doubt anyone gets paid by PayPal for this. I think the person who applies for the job gets taken before any "pay" is given out for the work completed.

So I will throw this out there to my readers who are a great source of information. Have you encountered this scam before? What is involved here? What do the scammers get from this?

Worthy of note because I'm sure scammers read this blog as well is the information when you go to the URL of   http://snipurl.com/25njig1. The address resolves to http://globalmg.org/?p=s3 which supposedly is set up to offer a way to convince people that want to find out more about the company that it is legitimate. But the contact information in the website is only a phone number of +44 8715283819 which isn't even based in the United States...and quite possibly isn't legitimate. No email address on this part...no contact names...no management names...no mailing address in the website.

Just fluffy descriptions of the company that are supposedly set to instill confidence in your choice of this company for fake employment.

By the way, also here's the whois information off the account. The domain registration and address in Minneapolis, MN is enough to say it's a scam. I mean really..."Thrift Auto Parts" at "469 Haul Road, Minneapolis, MN". How original is that...and not to mention if you google that address or that company name it's no where to be found in Minneapolis, MN. Nor a phone number or anything that ever shows for the fake address of "469 Haul Road".

So again my readers...what do you think? Mind you comment moderation is turned on and it's a holiday today but I'll post pros and cons related to this posting. Unless it's patently offensive with attacks upon other posters who comment or if you use a lot of colorful metaphors.

So here's the whois:
